Jagatsinghpur, June 6 (LocalWire): Migrant returnees of Tiruna Panchayat in Naugaon block today held a dharana demanding the administration to collect their swabs for testing of COVID-19.
Returnees of Machgaon Panchayat in Balikuda refused to return home today after the end of their 7-day quarantine period.
Sources said that nearly 45 migrants were quarantined at Gopabandhu Memorial Government Hospital in Naugaon.
Quarantine period of 20 returnees is over for which they have been discharged by the health department; however, they are refusing to go home as they haven’t been tested for COVID-19 yet.
As it is highly risky to stay at home without having a confirmed negative test, harried inmates demonstrated in front of the school.
Sarpanch of Tiruna panchayat Nirupama Das has informed, “Medical teams rushed to the spot and informed that due to non-availability of test kits, they were unable to conduct the tests.
On this, the inmates called off their protest”.
Inmates of a temporary medical centre in Balikuda wish to continue staying at the quarantine centre even after the end of their quarantine period, as they have enjoyed their stay.
BDO of Balikuda, Kalyan Kumar Das has allowed the inmates to stay another 7 days at the centre; the inmates are happy to stay and clean the bushes and grass to keep the TMC’s environment neat and clean.
