Jagatsinghpur, Oct 30 (LocalWire): Elected representatives of Raghunathpur block sought the intervention of the district Collector for immediate transfer of errant BDO who has been blamed for several irregularities in developmental work in the area and also non implementation of Fani-damage funds.
Sarpanch of different panchayats, Pramoda Kumar Jena, Saroj Kumar Das, Kabita Nayak, Abhimanyu Nayak and Chhabita Mohanty said primary schools, high schools, aganwadi centres, ANM centers, panchayat office in 19 panchyats of this block were affected by cyclone Fani.
In July, Rs 2.30 crores was allocated for renovation of school and other government buildings but errant BDO, Panchanana Pattyat, did not start any renovation even after four months, affecting the studies of children.
Block officials also collected percentages from each development project creating hindrance.
Block officials allegedly took Rs 1500 from projects costing Rs 1lakh or the BDO did not approve the project causing delay in implementation.
BDO also did not give information about different projects and government-sponsored programmes to local sarpanch and panchayat samiti members so they are ignorant about these.
Sarpanch of Adheikula panchayat Sesadev Sethy alleged, ‘this panchayat has received Fani damage fund of Rs 12 lakh for renovation of five schools but they have not been implemented due to the negligence of the BDO and other officials’.
Sethy alleged the administration had conducted Bhima Bhoi Bhinnakshyama Samarthya Sibir to disburse physically-handicapped certificates to disabled people but since the elected representatives were ignorant about this programme 20 disabled people from Adheikula panchayat failed to attend it.
There is also irregularity in disbursement of old age and widow pension in which genuine beneficiaries have been deprived.
Widows applied two to three times but they failed to get pension because of non-availability of their application form in the block office.
Beneficiaries who are 60 years and above have received old age pension while those in the age group of 70 to 75 years have not yet received old age pension due to negligence of the BDO, Sethy alleged.
