Puri, March 22 (LocalWire): Railways has announced a cash reward of Rs.50,000 for the fire department here for prompt action and valor in dousing a raging inferno in three empty coaches of Tapaswini Express recently.
The coaches were undergoing cleaning and maintenance when the fire broke out due to short-circuit. The fire personnel had reached the spot in no time and brought the fire under control.
The general manager of the East Coast Railway has announced the reward, to be given at a special function, as a token of appreciation, the railways said in a statement on Saturday.
The officer also appreciated the quick action of government railway police (GRP) for their role in tackling the situation during the fire.
