Bhubaneswar, December 7 (LocalWire) A 39-year-old rape survivor has been running from pillar to post to take to task the perpetrator of the crime even as the police here are allegedly trying to cover up the case.
The trial and tribulation of the victim dates back to April 10 when she had lodged a complaint with Infocity police station here alleging that she was raped and financially deceived by the accused Sanjay Bansal, a private firm executive.
As the local police refused to entertain her complaint, she had moved the High Court seeking justice. Acting on the HC order, the police had lodged a case on May 27 and recorded her statement under section 164 of CrPC on June 2.
However, since then, the police are sitting over the case and the “offender” is roaming free, she said alleging that the police is hand in glove with the accused turning a blind eye to the case.
“I have knocked at the doors of various authorities seeking justice starting from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). But, justice continues to elude me”, the victim, a businesswoman, rued.
Meanwhile, the PMO had taken note of the complaint and asked her to file petition with National Commission for Women (NCW) which she did but nothing has happened till date, she said.
“He had sexually exploited me by falsely promising to make me his life partner. But he ditched me. He had also financially exploited me”, she said.
Immense pressure is being exerted upon me to make an out of court settlement of the matter and withdraw the case.
At a time when everybody is shouting from the rooftop for women’s safety, alleged inaction on the part of authorities have left a rape survivor high and dry, she concluded.
