Cuttack, Jan 29 (LocalWire) Cuttack-based Ravenshaw University said it will buy Rs. 50 lakh for its Kanika Library.
An innovative program and a book fair named ‘Kanikayan’, has been organised by the Ravenshaw University.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ishan Kumar Patra said: “This year, books worth more than Rs. 50 lakh will be bought for Kanika Library.”
As many as 15 publication agencies have joined this program held at the University’s playground.
As per Ravenshaw’s EC meeting report, the books will be acquired for the library at a discounted price keeping an eye on the liking of HoDs (Head of Departments), lecturers and their respective students.
The book fair will continue for three days and the university will buy books on the last day of the event, officials said.
Kanika Library’s In-charge, Prof. Chandi Prasad Nanda, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Noted writer and litterateur Dr. Gourahari Dash, Educationalist Prof. Jitendra Kumar Nayak and book fair’s manager Umakant Mishra joined as chief guests.
