Bhubaneswar, July 3 (LocalWire): Ravenshaw University is considering the introduction of a few certificate courses in its new academic session, to provide students with a better understanding of the subject they would opt for.
Ravenshaw University geared up for its new session today as it conducted its first phase of entrance examinations for admissions in various streams.
While not much changes were made in the academic prospectus for 2019, registrar Ashok Kumar Dash hinted at two new certificate courses that might be introduced in the department of Physics in the new session, one of which would be ‘Electrodynamics’.
‘There will be an option of certificate courses.
Although we have forwarded the type of certificate courses we are planning to introduce and it has been passed by the Vice Chancellor and the committee, nothing has been officially mentioned in the academic prospectus yet,’ said Dr Rabindra Nath Mishra, Professor and head of the department (HOD) of Physics.
He further elaborated, ‘The certificate courses will be more like an entry to the main course at the first level.
Physics will remain the major subject as students will be given a lateral option.’
He, however, mentioned that nothing has been confirmed and they will decide what would be viable only after the admission process is complete.
Ravenshaw University consists of 27 departments out of which, 23 are post-graduate departments with research facilities.
There are 27 under-grarduate honors courses and 14 MPhil programmes.
