Berhampur, Feb 19 (LocalWire): Relatives of an Odia youth believed to be stranded in Kuwait where he had gone for employment, sought the intervention of the local administration in securing his safe return.
Jhillu Prusty, 24 a native of Adapada village in Ganjam district had gone to Kuwait in September 2018 through an agency, who promised to get him job of a pipe fabricator in that country.
Instead of employing him as a pipe fabricator, the Kuwaiti company engaged him in construction work, Prusty’s father Hrushikesh said.
After working there for eight months, the youth left the job. However, the company did not settle his payment. His passport has also expired in November 2019.
Hrusikesh approached the administration after his son, posted a video on social media, narrating his ordeal and explained that he has no money.
District labour officer (DLO) Berhampur, Babula Patra said they had conducted an inquiry about it and already submitted a report to the state labour commissioner through the district collector.
The process is on for his repatriation” said Patra adding he had personally talked with Prusty about the matter.
