Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (LocalWire) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Centre release funds for restoration work in Cyclone Titli affected areas in the state.
Drawing Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s attention, Patnaik in his letter said over 60.31 lakh people across 128 blocks under 17 districts were affected in flood and landslides after Cyclone Titli hit the state on Oct 10.
The OdishaGovernment had sought central assistance of Rs 2023.13 crore against total requirement of Rs 2779.32 crore for relief and restoration works.
Patnaik said he had already written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.
“I had requested for release of an interim assistance of Rs 1000 crore pending final decision of the high level committee on the memorandum,” said the CM.
“An amount of Rs 1,689.13 crore was released for relief and restoration measures, exhausting the entire amount available in State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Hence, assistance from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) is urgently required for replenishing the SDRF and for undertaking the balance works,” he said.
