Keonjhar, Jan 10 (Localwire): In a bid to create awareness on ‘safe driving’, Keonjhar police has launched a new scheme of rewarding ‘responsible’ riders/drivers during the ongoing National Safety Week, 2019.
This scheme, first of its kind in the state as claimed by the state police, was initiated on Friday.
According to police, a good driver, who has valid license, registration certificate, insurance, wears helmet while riding two-wheelers or regularly uses seat belt while driving four wheeler without intoxication, is rewarded with a certificate and Rs 100 under this scheme.
Ananta Narayan Kuanr of Keonjhar is the first person to receive this award. He was awarded by IIC Town PS Ranjan Kumar Biswal.
J.N.Pankaj, SP, Keonjhar, said, “Police generally conduct motor vehicle checking targeting the bad drivers and imposing fine on them. But under this scheme police checking vehicles and rewarding good riders.”
Checking officers (IIC/OIC) are enlisting the details about the good drivers for future reference.
