Jagatsinghpur, July 22 (LocalWire): Irate villagers demonstrated and blocked the road at Rahama bazar and Poragdeipur of Cuttack-Paradip state highway today demanding the safety of school children after a student who was injured in a road accident ten days ago, succumbed to his injuries.
Twelve-year-old Narayan Mallick from Poragdeipur, was hit by a car on 10 July in front of Radha Gobind Sanjay Mohanty High School.
He succumbed to his injuries at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
Villagers demanded compensation and were pacified by tehesildar Sujata Patra after Red Cross gave them Rs 10,000.
Students from Mallick’s school blocked the road at Poragdeipur demanding safety for school children and urged to bring down the height of the school boundary which will help them to see the movement of vehicles in front of the school.
Officials of school and mass education department led by Block Education Officer, Tirtol Dhirendra Das rushed to the spot and assured to fulfill their demands.
