Rourkela, Sept 13 (LocalWire): Swasti Singh, a budding cyclist, has brought laurels to the steel city by bagging the bronze medal for India in the Track Asia Cup Cycling Championship – 2019 held at New Delhi.

Swasti won the medal in the two kilometre individual pursuit.

She clocked 2 minutes 35.161 seconds in the event, improving her earlier best performance of 2.37 minutes in the same event which she had achieved in the national Junior Championship held at Jaipur.

Swasti , daughter of Mrs. Uma Devi and Mr. Amar Singh of Oxygen Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant had won a gold medal in the two km women junior individual pursuit event in the 5th Asian Track Cycling Championship – 2018 organized by the Cycling Federation of India at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

Swasti has been training under the tutelage of cycling coach of RSP and international cyclist, Sushil Das for the last 5 years.

She is at present attending the India camp in New Delhi and preparing for the Asian Cycling Championship to be held at Bahamas in October.

Notably, she had successfully undergone training at Sports Authority of India national cycling academy earlier.

Swasti performed exceedingly well in the state selection camp held at DRIEMS Cuttack.

She bagged the 4th position in 15 km event at national road cycling championship held in New Delhi in 2016.

She also finished 3rd in the 70th National Track Cycling Championship in New Delhi in January 2018.
