Rourkela, Oct 13 (LocalWire): Former chairman of Rourkela Municipality Corporation, Rashmibala Mishra, has written an open letter to the secretary of the recently-formed 5Ts, V Kartikeyan Pandian today, highlighting various problems afflicting the city.
In her letter she said, ‘lapse of team work and coordination have created huge problems for city residents.’ She said ‘despite Rourkela getting the status of Smart City there has been no significant development here. The residents are besieged with the same problems that affected them earlier.’
She raised questions about the tardy progress and quality of work of the Rs 340-crore underground sewerage system project.
Mishra said, ‘the sewerage work is yet to be complete and the condition of the roads is deplorable. The PHD has started digging up roads to lay new pipes for water supply causing problems for residents.’
She also complained against the RMC, which she headed once, and said it had laid new roads in haste knowing fully that the L&T, the executing authority of the sewerage system, would begin work in a short span of time wasting public money.’
The households have not been connected to the sewerage pits so far, and water is overflowing from those places causing inconvenience to residents. ‘This also raised serious questions regarding the quality of the work done in the entire sewerage project,’ she said in the open letter.
‘Authorities should not waste public money with such faulty planning and someone should be answerable for it else, this is violation of the 5Ts of the government, Mishra said in her letter.
