Rourkela, March 23 (LocalWire): Rourkela Steel Plant CEO Dipak Chattaraj has urged its employees to conserve water and pledge to “recreate” the precious resource to mark the World Water Day celebrations.
“Let’s take pledge to save water and recreate water,” Chattaraj said in his address on the occasion on Thursday. The function was organised at the plant’s HRD Centre on Friday.
Deliberating on the alarming increase in water consumption, the CEO highlighted the importance of reuse, recycling and adoption of state of art technologies to reduce waste.
Citing examples of Brazil and Russia, Chattaraj emphasized the seriousness of water scarcity worldwide and urged the gathering to make judicious use of water in their daily lives.
He also emphasized on increasing awareness in the society regarding water conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Raj Vir Singh, ED (P&A) said, World Water Day is an opportunity to prepare everyone to conserve water for future use.
Highlighting the five elements of nature, Gautam Banerjee, ED (Works) stressed on the need for water conservation. He exhorted everyone to look for nature-based solutions to meet future water challenges.
General managers, heads of department, senior officers of the plant, prize winning employees and students, teachers and guardians were also present on the occasion.
March 22 is celebrated as World Water Day as per a resolution passed by the UN in 1992.
