Rourkela, Feb 13 (LocalWire) An exquisite monument ‘Shilpa Konark’ has been inaugurated near the Plant Main Gate of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
RSP CEO Ashwini Kumar inaugurated the aesthetically carved monument that has been designed in the shape of a temple with finely crafted replicas of the trademark sculptures of the Konark temple placed at the bottom.
In the middle, is a glass case with a model of a Blast Furnace and the various products of Rourkela Steel Plant.
The uppermost tier carries the designs of the sculptures of Konark temple as well as the Blast Furnace-5 of Rourkela Steel Plant.
The monument is surrounded by a beautiful water body and a number of coloured fountains.
Another significant aspect of the Shilpa Konark complex is the Safety, Quality and Environment corner, carrying the flags of each theme.
The images of a woman with a broom and a man planting a sapling placed adjacent to it reflect the commitment of the plant to housekeeping and environment.
The complex is surrounded on two sides with walls carrying eye-catching paintings of various units of the plant as well as some historical events.
The complex is spread over about 4500 square metres.
To match the ambience of the ‘Shilpa Konark’ complex, the main gate has also been remodelled.
The artistically designed main gate now is adorned by a steel structure at the top along will a clock and electronics display board.
A replica of a Konark Wheel placed at the entrance signifies the ‘Wheel of progress’- the journey of growth that the plant has embarked upon.
The walls of the adjacent administrative block have been beautifully painted depicting the rich cultural heritage of the country, with the lighting arrangements adding to the magnificence.
The entire job has been carried out by the Civil Engineering (Services) Department of RSP with the support of various other units.
