Bhubaneswar, July 11 (LocalWire): In a highest-ever railway allotment for Odisha, the Centre provided Rs 5993 crores in the fiscal 2019-20, which is Rs 742 crores more than last year’s budget.
The budget is for maintenance of railways, passenger amenities, construction of new railway lines and new surveys.
A sum of Rs 180 crore has been provided for passenger amenities. Funds allocated for new railway lines are Rs 400 crore for Haridaspur-Paradeep, Rs 350 crore for Khurda Road-Balangir, Rs 250 crore for Angul-Sukinda Road, Rs 150 crore for Talcher-Bimlagarh and an estimated investment of Rs 1400 crore has been ordered for Jharsuguda- Barapali new rail line.
Among the new surveys are Raja Athagarh to Kaipadar Road avoiding Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, Bypass (from Titlagarh-Rahenbata to Sikir), a chord line from Talcher to Angul through colliery to avoid engine reversal at Talcher 14 kms.
Similarly, 10 new flyover surveys have been conducted on Titlagarh, Singapur Road, Haridaspur, Koraput, Sambalpur, Machhapur, Jajpur Road, Sambalpur city, Sarla and Gopalpur Port and also a flyover at Cuttack for goods train to avoid congestion in the Silver city.
Two automatic coach washing plants have been sanctioned for Bhubaneswar coach depot.
As per Railway reports, a sum of Rs 350 crore has been allocated for doubling of railway line in Jharsuguda-Rengali, Sambalpur-Talcher, Jharapada-Budapank, Koraput-Singapore Road; third and fourth line in Bansapani-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhapura, and third rail line in Khurda-Barang, Bhadrak-Nergundi.
