Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (LocalWire): Rs 8,365 crore-worth projects under public private partnership (PPP) mode have been made operational in the state, officials said today.
‘Odisha has become a leading performer as far as executing PPP projects is concerned. Till 1 July, 88 projects worth Rs18,349 crore was sanctioned under PPP mode. Of these, 57 projects worth Rs.8,365 crore have been completed and made operational,’ said Principal Secretary Finance, Ashok Meena.
These projects are mainly in the sphere of urban development, transport, industrial infrastructure, health, education, roads, tourism, food supplies and consumer welfare and energy sectors, he said.
17 projects worth Rs4861 crore are under various stages of completion while 14 projects worth Rs 5,123 crore are in the pipeline, Meena said.
PPP management is a robust and viable system with its single window clearance system and ground level facilitation for expeditious commissioning of the projects.
Currently PPP cell has been operating in planning and convergence department. Plans are afoot to bring it under finance department for better integration of budgetary and extra budgetary sources for developmental projects.
It will help in enhancing the number of projects and activities within available budgetary provisions, said the officials.
