Bhubaneswar, March 19 (LocalWire): Odisha shuttler Rutuparna Panda has made it to the Indian badminton team for Tong Yun Kai Cup 2019 of the Asian Mixed Team Championships in Hong Kong starting Tuesday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through his Twitter handle congratulated the young badminton player and her team. ‘Congratulate shuttler from Odisha, Rutaparna Panda for making it to the Indian badminton team for the second edition of the #Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships to be played in Hong Kong. Best of luck to the team.’
Panda was a trainee at badminton legend Pullela Gopichand’s academy in Hyderabad.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has selected seven young shuttlers in the women’s squad to give an exposure to the talented youngsters for upcoming events. The Championship will conclude on 24 March. India is in group B with Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
