Berhampur, April 4 (LocalWire): Paralakhemundi Police seized Rs1.50 lakh cash today from two cars at Ranipentha in Gajapati district taking the total seized money to Rs 2.50 lakh in the last two days.
While Rs one lakh was seized from the Khandaba sarpanch, a BJP supporter, rest of the money was seized from the vehicle of a supporter of YSR Congress travelling from Andhra Pradesh.
‘We have handed over the men to the flying squad for further action,’ said inspector in charge, Paralakhemundi police station, Bibekananda Swain.
With the model code of conduct coming into fore, any person intercepted with an amount more than Rs 50,000 has to disclose the source of the cash. The person should also give details of the reason for carrying the cash and end-use of the money, official sources said.
The SP (Gajapati), Sarah Sharma, said checking was continuing in Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border area regularly to prevent illegal transport of arms, liquor and cash.
