Bhubaneswar, November 21 (LocalWire): The 1988-batch IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty on Thursday took over as the interim Director General of Police.
Mohanty, who is posted as the Special DG (Intelligence) will serve as the in-charge till the newly-appointed DGP Abhay takes the reign of the state police.
The 1986-batch IPS officer Abhaya is currently on central deputation as the Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
The incumbent DGP BK Sharma, who also headed who also served as the fire services director, was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Home Department in a major reshuffle of the top brass in the state police force.
Sharma’s exit follows a high-level inquiry against him to look into the circumstances that led to the inordinate delay in issuance of fire safety certificates to the applicants by the directorate.
