Berhampur, October 24 (LocalWire): The authorities have decided to shut down all schools in Ganjam and Gajapati districts on Thursday due to the incessant rains during the last two days.
The local administrations of both the districts ordered that the schools will be closed for the students but the teachers will continue to attend it as usual.
The Anganwadi centers in the district were also closed, sources said.
Several morning schools, however, were open since the district administration passed the order late in the morning on Thursday.
The schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandira, Nilakantha Nagara were also reported to be functioning as per routine.
Normal life in Ganjam district was paralysed due to the incessant rainfalls during the last two days under the influence of the low presser marked in the Bay of Bengal. Several low-lying areas in Berhampur city were inundated due to heavy rain.
In the Gajapati district, the administration has alerted the officials of the line department officials. “We are keeping an eye on the situation,” district collector Anupam Saha said.
The rivers in the districts are, however, flowing below their danger marks, sources said.
