Berhampur, September 6 (LocalWire): Ganjam and Kandhamal district administrations have ordered the suspension of classes in all the schools and anganwadi centers in the district on Friday following the prediction of heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours.
“Keeping in view the prediction of heavy rainfall in the district, as per the Indian Metrological Center, we have ordered the suspension of classes for one day,” Kandhamal district collector Brundha D said, adding that the schools and their teachers, however, will remain present.
According to the Ganjam district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, the school will remain closed for the students for the day.
Though there has been no rain so far in the morning, several areas in the district, including Berhampur have been inundated due to the heavy rain on Thursday.
Road communications in Berhampur and Aska have also been disrupted due to the water on the National Highway 59, sources said.
According to Kandhamal district collector, though it has been raining in the district for the last two days, there were reports of disruption in any part of the district. “We are keeping a strict watch on the situation,” she said.
