Bhubaneswar, July 28 (LocalWire): Scientific management of temporary medical centres has helped the authorities in Deogarh district to arrest the spread of corona 19, officials said on Tuesday.
Deogarh has only 13 active cases, the lowest among the districts. It has reported only 82 positive cases so far, and 69 of them have recovered.
The rigorous door-to-door health survey was done twice a week starting from 30th March 2020.
Surveillance of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) cases from Out Patient Department (OPD) and data from Drug Inspector on purchase of cold medicines and immediate action by health team were the reasons behind this success.
A COVID cell and call centre with 10 dedicated phones was set up at the district level, district collector Sudhanshu Mohan Samal said.
Dedicated teams for different activities at different sites ensured strict enforcement of social distancing and mask use norms.
Active community surveillance was done through the efforts of community level institutions and awareness programmes were carried out through SMSes, mike announcements, door-to-door canvassing by grassroots workers including Anganwadi workers, he said.
The efforts of the district administration in taking up scientific management of temporary medical centres, early intervention and quick response helped in arresting the spread of COVID-19, Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management said appreciating the efforts.
