Bhubaneswar, Sept 12 (LocalWire): Senior Odisha officials and experts on Friday discussed on different schemes the government has launched and urged state youths to explore the opportunities.
In a webinar organised by Odisha Corporate Foundation (OCF), an organisation working for the entrepreneurial development of the state, they also explained about the subsidies available under different schemes.
“It is high time we took adequate measures to ensure that young entrepreneurs make use of the opportunities” attending the event as chief guest Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Dr. Saurabh Garg said.
Schemes like Agriculture Infrastructure Development Funds, Mission for the Integrated Development of Horticulture and Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyoga Yojana will strengthen the state’s economy while ensuring its agricultural growth,” he said.
Odisha farmers are entitled to avail loans to the tune of Rs 2500 crore under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund. Farmers, as well as those keen to invest in agriculture and allied fields, should reap the benefits, he added.
Director, Agriculture and Food Production, Dr. M. Muthukumar said that providing scope for the use of new technologies and availability of proper agri infrastructure will enable the current generation to adopt agriculture and allied sector as their occupation.
The state government is planning to promote one agri produce from each district to encourage micro-enterprises.
Besides, integrated supply chain hubs in two major cities – Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur – is on the cards. Lenka also urged bankers to favourably consider agricultural projects.
The Agricultural Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (APICOL) is the nodal agency to bring enterprise into agriculture, said its managing director Dr PK Roul.
Mart Global Management Solutions partner Pankaj Mishra gave an overview of the agricultural system of the state and the country.
Former Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik urged the youths to embrace agriculture and its allied sectors.
Delivering the welcome address, Ecociate co-founder Kirti Prasanna Mishra maintained that the state is rich in natural resources and has a good local market for agribusiness. It only needs entrepreneurship to flourish.
The online event on the scopes and opportunities offered by agri-business was attended by several other eminent dignitaries.
