Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (Local Wire): The state government in their daily bulletin on Coronavirus update on Friday informed the media that the second positive case for COVID 19 in Odisha came in contact with 46 people before tested positive in the state.
Subrat Bagchi, nodal officer for Coronavirus told reporters that the second patient is a 19-year-old boy with a travel history to the United Kingdom (UK).
He said, “The person is a 19-year-old student who returned from the London.
He has been kept in isolation.
He is now stable and kept under observation,”
He also said, “Information on 46 persons having contacted the patient has been collected while communication with 43 persons has been made and efforts are on way to communicate rest 3 persons.
8 Monitoring teams have been interested for purpose,”
The family of the patient has now been kept under quarantine.
It came to the light the father of the patient is the medical superintendent of a premier central government hospital in the state government.
The Resident Doctors Association from the hospital has now complained to the hospital director accusing the superintendent of concealing the fact that his son had a recent travel history to UK.
The 19 year old person had reached Bhubaneswar on 18th and is in hospital isolation from 19th.
His family members have been directed to remain in home quarantine.
On the other hand a total number of 2935 foreign entrants have been registered with the government and disclosed their travel history after it was made mandatory few days ago.
The government said that till now, 66 number of samples have been tested, 62 found negatives. Reports of 4 samples not obtained.
