Bhubaneswar, March 20, 9LocalWire): On the eve of Holi, police on Wednesday beefed-up security in the state capital to prevent any untoward incident during the two-day celebrations.
Besides deploying 15 police platoons in different corners of the city, personnel have also been reserved for crackdown on shops selling harmful colors.
Police will also keep an eye on shops selling illegal liquor during the dry period.
“We also urge citizens not to put their lives at risk by venturing into rivers and water bodies for bathing,” deputy commissioner of police Anup Kumar Sahoo said.
The fire department and the Disaster Rapid Action Force will stay on guard to prevent accidents.
At least seven areas in the city have been declared vulnerable for drowning, hence, adequate life-jackets and breathing apparatus will be provided to officials for rescue ops, Sahoo added.
