Bhubaneswar, March 16 (LocalWire): A security guard deployed at a private Kalyan Mandap in Bankuala under Saheed Nagar police limits was injured after two miscreants opened fire at him.
Police suspected past enmity behind the crime.
The victim Gyanendra Mallick with bullet injury on his right shoulder was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital from where he was referred to SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident took place in the wee hours of Saturday.
“Two people came in a motorcycle and queried about the presence of the owner of the Mandap and later asked the security guard for water.
When the guard came with a bottle of water one of the miscreants opened fire at him. We could not identify them as one of them has covered his face while the other one had put on helmet,” said an eyewitness.
Police however suspected that the incident was fallout of past enmity. “ Two youths used to lift helmets from parked motorcycles in front of the Mandap and the security guard had identified them.
We strongly suspect this incident having link with today’s crime,” said a police official.
