Bhubaneswar, Dec 1 (LocalWire) With outlawed Maoists gearing up to observe People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week from tomorrow, the State police have heightened security in 15 Maoist affected districts in joint coordination with Border Security Force (BSF).
The districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Angul and Boudh- are classified as Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected pockets.
The red rebels have announced the observance of PLGA week from December 2 to December 8, senior police officials said.
The Maoists used to organize meetings in interior villages and offer tributes to the red rebels who were killed in police encounters during the observance of week.
There are instances of the Maoists triggering bloodshed by targeting the police and security forces engaged in combing operation to flush them out.
Meanwhile, the outlawed Maoists outfits have launched a poster campaign in Bargarh district sticking posters at various points of Paikamal-Nuapada road urging the people to extend support towards observance of PLGA week.
