Bhubaneswar, Nov 19 (LocalWire): To invigorate the safety of passengers and railway property, East Coast Railway today introduced Segway hi-tech patrolling system at Bhubaneswar Railway Station.
The battery operated and eco-friendly Segway system will come in handy for Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel to move from one place to another during patrolling in less time and also help in crowd control. It will also increase visible policing, said General Manager, East Coast Railway, Vidya Bhushan, while inaugurating the facility today.
RPF receives report of theft or snatching cases including cases of abusing, nuisance by passengers through Twitter or through security helpline number 182. The Segway security mechanism will definitely curb these unlawful activities, said officials.
The cost of each of the Segways is Rs 81,900 and 12 RPF personnel have been trained to provide security cover to the passengers besides the railway properties, they added.
