Bhubaneswar, May 10 (LocalWire): Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar mere days after he was diagnosed with liver cancer.
Chouhan, 54, hailed from the Bargarh district of Odisha and is survived by his parents and brother. He was a bachelor.
The former national president of the Bajrang Dal had joined the BJD in March last year.
After joining the BJD, he was made the ruling party’s general secretary and one of its spokespersons.
Chouhan was appointed Western Odisha Development Council Chairperson in September last year.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, several leaders from Western Odisha and from the Sangh Parivar expressed their condolences to his family.
Known for being a soft-spoken person with excellent organizational skills, Chouhan was made the national convener of the Bajrang Dal in 2010.
