Bhubaneswar, March 13 (LocalWire): Sahayog, a voluntary organisation organised a state consultation on rights of patients with tuberculosis in collaboration with Oxfam India.
Bijayalaxmi Rautaray, secretary of Sahayog shared the objective of the programme and the state TB Cell, political party representatives, RNTCP staff, health right activists, media personnel, TB survivors, family members of affected patients joined in the programme to discuss and reach a solution.
Tuberculosis survivors and the family members of the patients shared their story and concerns during the period of treatment.
Dr Braja Kishore Brahma, Special Secretary, (Health) said, ‘We have to fight the stigma associated with TB. We now have diagnosis facility and new generation antibiotics but need proper planning and implementation to win over the disease.’
Dr Sushil Kumar, Director, Health Services, graced the occasion. The State Convener JSA Gournaga Mohapatra said medicines for all types of diseases are available in Niramaya and easy access can be ensured with single window system. Santosh Patra from Oxfam said supply chain management need to work properly so that patients can receive high standard of treatment.
