Bhubaneswar, June 24 (LocalWire): The Shapoorji Pallonji Group has contributed Rs 51 lakhs towards Chief Minister’s relief fund for Fani-affected areas.
Gopalpur Port director and CEO Sandeep Agarwal and Shapoorji Pallonji Ports AVP Jagdish Rout presented the electronic transfer documents to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here today.
Shapoorji Pallonji Ports had earlier donated a 1000-million litre per day RO water purification system to the Puri Medical Hospital to mitigate the possible outbreak of Cholera after cyclone Fani.
The water purification system will be maintained by the group for five years after which it will be handed over to the hospital authorities.
Representatives from the group also visited several Fani-affected villages under Puri Sadar block in Puri district and distributed kits with livelihood essentials such as tarpaulin and rope for shelter, plates, tumblers, sleeping mats, buckets, mugs, and toiletries including soaps, towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste apart from mosquito coils.
The kits, importantly, had sanitary napkins keeping in mind the need for women and also included chlorine tablets to help families disinfect the groundwater in the affected areas.
