Baripada, Sept 22 (LocalWire): Six poachers were arrested by the officials of Dukurna Wildlife Range in Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj on Tuesday.
Four handmade guns, gun powder, bill hooks, trapping nets and other poaching accessories were recovered from the arrested persons.
The poachers were identified as Gajendra Katual (50), Madhu Naik (30), Uttam Bhakta (20), Galu Nayik (45), Sudharsan Katual (25), Satrughna Katual (19) of Kasikundal village within Udala police limits.
Ranger Ananta Kumar Jena said that the six poachers had been planning to go camping at Similipal National Park for the purpose of poaching.
On their way to the place, forest officials detained them near Chari Chowk around 11.30 am
Deputy Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) Jagyandutta Pati said that a case had been registered under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 against the six persons. The poachers will be produced in court on Wednesday after further investigation.
