Kendrapadra, June 1 (LocalWire): A 27-year-old migrant worker quarantined here at a Temporary Medical centre at the seaside village of Gupti in Rajnagar was bitten by a snake late Sunday night.
The victim was identified as Purnachandra Sahoo who had returned from Bangalore, and hails from Mahulia village.
It was the sixth day of his quarantine period since his return.
Upon being bitten, he was promptly admitted to the Community Health Centre in Rajnagar, after which he was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
“His condition is now stable,” said Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty, the Medical Officer of Rajnagar.
“As the mangrove forest near the quarantine center houses many venomous snakes, a snake managed to sneak into the centre on Sunday night.
Today we cleared all the nearby areas,” said Sarbeswar Sahoo, the Sarpanch of Gupti Gram Panchayat.
