Bhubaneswar, Nov 12 (LocalWire): Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. A son’s bizarre act of cremating his father’s car in the belief that his father departed soul can have a comfortable four-wheeler ride to the Heavens!
Apparently, traumatized over his father’s demise, 42-year-old Niranjan Rout consigned to flame the car (owned by his father) in a crematorium at Patia locality in the city.
His father, 65-year-old Kishore Chandra Rout, who loved to drive cars, died in a road accident recently.
Niranjan lit the funeral pyre and then drove the car to the cremation grounds and set it ablaze.
Niranjan, a liquor shop owner, also made a video of the vehicle’s burial which has now gone viral in social media platforms.
Niranjan has undergone bouts of mental disorder.
In medical terminology, this sort of eccentric behavioural symptom is described as Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The man who set afire the deceased father’s son might be suffering from PTSD. It’s a serious mental illness.
However it could be cured if timely treatment is provided, said psychiatrist Samrat Kar.
