Bhubaneswar, July 1(LocalWire): Eminent speakers from Bhubaneswar chapter of Toastmasters International slated few tips on leadership skills to the incoming batch of students of the 30 year’s old Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar at Colloquium’19 on Sunday, to help them carve a better future.
Colloquium’19 is the annual event hosted by Team SpeakUp, the orator committee of XIMB in which seasoned orators and speech trainers are invited to address the incoming batch of management aspirants on nuances of oration, diction, confident speech and assertiveness.
For the 2019 event, SpeakUp had invited the famed international oratory community, Toastmaster International, as the esteemed speakers who took their turns and shared their insights on various forms of speech and speaking techniques.
The audience was first addressed by Mr. DTM Kaushik, the Assistant Club Growth Director for District 41.
He stated, “All you need to do when you are a leader is to be a part of the team.”
Mr. Kaushik was followed by Mr. Dibyajit Bardhan, the current President of Toastmaster’s Community Club. He shared his life experience as he said, “My life has been fortunate enough to be enriched by contributions from strong women.”
Then Mr Abhishek Das, veteran Toastmaker and co-founder of Toastmakers Community Club, Bhubaneswar stated, “It’s always good to make your stage presence felt.”
The next speech was delivered by Ms Navina, a holder of various leadership positions in Toastmakers whose advice to the students was, “You cannot speak on a topic for more than 5 minutes without mental preparation.”
Mr Sumit Kakkar, a passionate speaker and writer and a stand-up comedian was the last speaker for the day who emphasized that “Humor is a powerful tool that binds people together.”
The session closed with a vote of thanks by Ms Devieen Mishra, co-ordinator of SpeakUp.
