Bhubaneswar, Feb 22 (LocalWire) Srijit Padhi was one of the meritorious students studying Masters in Economics from Ravenshaw University in Cuttack once upon a time.
He was the classmate and friend of twin-city Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi. Few decades down the line, the highly qualified person was seen begging on the streets of Puri.
Padhi, who also appeared once for the Odisha Administrative Services (OAS) is said to have become mentally disturbed since then.
He later started surviving on the alms given by devotees visiting Srimandirin Puri.

Padhi was often seen begging on the streets of Badadanda or great grand road near the Puri Jagannath temple.
After the news of the person came into limelight, many of his old friends and even Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi intervened and tried to help the person who was living in misery.
They visited the site and tried to assist him.
Padhi got doctors’ consultation and now shifted for further treatment.
When Padhi was spotted he was seen with long beard, not shaved for years with minimal clothes on his body Sarangi is also said to have asked some officials to take care of his old friend.
With the active support from the commissioner and his old friend, Padhi has now been shifted to Cuttack for mental health treatment.
The doctors will try to fix the mental issues so that the person can again be able to live a normal life.
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
