Puri, May 29 (LocalWire): Srimandir Temple visit has been restricted to four hours today on account of Banaka Lagi ritual.
As the ritual is performed in seclusion, all entry points to the 12th-century shrine will remain closed for devotees from 4 pm to 8 pm.
“Banaka Lagi’ is a special ritual in which Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan adorn a new look,” said a priest.
“No one, except a small group of servitors is allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum during the ritual,” he added.
The ritual is conducted at the temple for seven to eight times in a year.
