Bhubaneswar, Mar 22 (Local Wire): The Odisha government on Sunday allowed exemption of vehicles transporting goods during the lock down period. It has meanwhile also formed a special monitoring committee to ensure smooth movement of the vehicles during such conditions.
Subrat Bagchi, nodal officer for Coronavirus in state said, “There will be exemptions for good vehicles during the period.
We have also decided to form a committee to ensure smooth movement of such vehicle in the state.
A state level monitoring committee on goods and services with immediate effect has been formed for the same,’’
As per the notification, the Principal Secretary of Water Resources department will be the Chairman of the panel.
Other members of the committee will include Principal Secretary of Odisha Housing and Urban Development department, Transport Commissioner, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Commissioner of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Director Special Project and ADG official rank official of the state police as per the recommendations of the Director General of Odisha Police.
A statement from the government said, ‘The Committee shall assess requirements and monitor flow of goods and take actions to remove bottlenecks if any.
It will also create a platform to facilitate traders and transporters to air their issues and resolve the same,”
Bagchi said that there will be no restriction on movement of Permitted Goods including coal and other minerals to ensure smooth supply chain.
All Permitted Goods vehicle will be allowed to move unhindered.
“Field functionaries of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare department, Police and Transport department have been instructed to ensure smooth movement of vehicles carrying permitted goods as per the Lock down order no. 8709 dated 21.03.2020 of Health & Family Welfare Department,” said a statement from the government.
