Bhubaneswar, Mar 23 (Local Wire): After putting curbs on the movement of buses entering into the states and buses moving out to other states, the state government on Monday put blanket ban on the playing of all categories of buses.
The government said after ban of inter-state buses no bus moving inside the state as well as city buses will be allowed to ply in the state during the lockdown period.
“We have decided that from 11am of March 24 all buses connecting different districts will be blocked for movement and will remain suspended till further orders of the government.
On the other side the city bus services will also remain suspended in all urban local bodies from the midnight of March 23,” said Subrat Bagchi, chief spokesperson of the state government on Coronavirus.
This comes a day after the state government suspended movements of inter-state buses into the state for indefinite period.
A notification from the Transport Commissioner was also issued into this regard. On the other hand the government also asked government officials to downsize their staff for works during the lockdown period.
“Government of Odisha has notified that all non-essential Central Government Offices, Central Public Undertakings, Banks, Insurances etc will operate with upto 10% of their staff strength,” a statement from the state government said.
