Bhubaneswar, Nov 28 (LocalWire): Odisgovernment has failed to furnish proof of spending estimated at 75% of grants-in-aid it received from the Centre during the fiscal year 2017-18.
The state is yet to submit utilisation certificates (UCs) for grants worth Rs 16,391.16 crores.
The Centre had released Rs 21,780.30 crore-grants for various projects two years back, the audit report released today by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) reveals.
The amount is pending against 30 administrative departments of the state. There was, therefore, no assurance that the expenditure of Rs 16,391.16 crores had actually been incurred for the purposes for which it was authorized, the CAG report maintained.
The Panchayatiraj department (Rs 15,595.99 crore), Housing and urban development department (Rs 5,917.30 crore), school and mass education department (Rs 3,351.31 crore) and planning and convergence department (Rs 2,827.20 crore) were major defaulters in furnishing UCs, the report added.
