Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire): Odisha government will expand the operational area of Model Schools or Adarsh Vidyalayas to 36 more blocks of the state.
Now 214 blocks have model schools but the government plans to open such Vidyalayas in 314 blocks of the state, the minister for schools and mass education, Samir Ranjan Dash, told the Assembly today.
The schools will be ready for classroom teaching by the academic year 2020-21. The number of model schools will go up to 250 once these begin functioning in 36 blocks next year, he said.
The basic objective of Model School was to promote excellence in education upto secondary and Higher Secondary stage.
The purpose was to create opportunities for students in hinterlands to receive high quality education. The students would also be imparted vocational training to make them skilled enough to be self-sufficient.
