Bhubaneswar, May 15 (LocalWire): The State government on Friday prohibited blockades and strikes in the Talcher Coal Fields area in order to ensure continuous power supply.
According to a Home Department notification, agitations, blockades and strikes by workers and transportation in the Talcher Coal Fields Area has been prohibited for a period of 6 months in effect from 16th May 2020.
Strikes have also been prohibited in services connected with the generation and supply of power in all establishments of National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC), Kaniha Power Station, Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) and other power plants.
The decision has been deemed necessary for the maintenance of the peaceful industrial environment and the continuity in the generation and supply of power in the State during the coronavirus pandemic, the notification states.
The order also states that in the interest of the public, it is necessary to prohibit strikes in the MCL Talcher area connected with the production of coal and its transportation and dispatch to companies like NALCO, NTPC, TTPS and other power plants.
