Bhubaneswar, June 1 (Local Wire): Odisha government has now started their works towards starting inter-state bus services at the earliest after the Home Ministry approved the services from this month.
State Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera said that the state has written letters to other states asking for resumption of the inter-state bus services.
The letters were written to the states which had been running buses to the state earlier.
“We have written to states like West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and others seeking their support to resume the bus services with them,” the minister said.
It is estimated that more than 14000 buses in Odisha remained off the road due to the lockdown curbs which barred inter-state bus services except in special services.
The state government on the other hand has also announced exemption of road taxes for April, May and June for the private bus operators keeping in mind the losses they incurred due to hampered services.
