Bhubaneswar, April 8 (Local Wire): The state government on Wednesday said that it has been able to test a total of 2441 samples from suspected COVID patients while the total cases of the viral disease stood at 42.
“The state government had tested a total of 2441 samples till date. The total number of positive cases stands at 42.
Two persons have already been cured and discharged from hospitals,” Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of the government (COVID 19 management) said.
The government claims that the maximum cases are from Bhubaneswar alone. “Out of 42 positive cases, 34 from Bhubaneswar, 3 from Bhadrak and one each from Cuttack, Puri, Kalahandi, Jajpur and Kendrapara. On the other side 91 persons are under Hospital Isolation as on Wednesday in different hospitals,” a statement from the government said.
Bagchi also said that the new rule which mandates citizens to use masks while venturing out will also come into effect from Thursday.
He however clarified that the rule exempts children below the age of two years.
