Bhubaneswar, August 22 (LocalWire): The state government has resolved to lay emphasis on improved telecommunication, road connectivity and banking services in Maoist-infested pockets, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said while presiding over a high level meeting on Left wing Extremism (LWE) in the Secretariat conference hall today.
The government’s prime objective is to refurbish the infrastructure at the LWE-hit areas of the state.
The people living in cutoff areas where Maoists are making their presence felt could be brought to the mainstream by improved infrastructure, the Chief Secretary said at the meeting.
‘Odisha has achieved remarkable success in curbing Naxalite activities.
The number of Left wing-affected districts in the state has come down from 15 to five at present.
A strategy to weed out LWEs from the state would be framed in the national level meeting, organized by the Union Home ministry, scheduled to be held on 26 August, where chief ministers of all Maoists-affected states will take part, he added.
