Bhubaneswar, April 6 (Local Wire): The state government will soon increase its COVID testing capacity from the existing 300 samples per day to 1000 samples/day, the government said on Monday.
Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of the government on COVID 19 said that the CM has now asked the officials to increase the testing capacity and expand the services in Southern and Western Odisha.
Currently the testing facilities are confined to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack alone.
“Currently we are testing 300 samples per day.
Two more centres-VIMSAR, Burla and MKCG, Berhampur are now ready with infrastructure for COVID testing.
We are likely to get the approval from ICMR soon for starting the service,” said Bagchi.
With the inclusion of two new centers the total testing capacity of the state will reach upto 1000 per day while the dependency of the persons living in southern and western Odisha on Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for testing will also decrease.
