Bhubaneswar, Sept 27 (LocalWire): Odia scientist Prof. Jyotirmayee Dash was congratulated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Honourable Governor Ganeshi Lal on receiving the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology 2020.
Dash has won the prize for her outstanding contribution to research in the field of Chemical Sciences. She is one amongst 12 scholars to have received the award.
The award is given annually in India by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research for notable and outstanding research in various fields such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, medicine etc.
It is believed to be the most coveted award in multidisciplinary science in India.
Awardees receive a cash amount of Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 15,000 per month up to the age of 65 years.
Hailing from Jagatsinghpur, Dash is the first Odia woman to receive this award. She had completed her M.Sc. in Chemistry from Ravenshaw University and her Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur.
While congratulating Ms. Dash on her achievement, Pradhan said that it would inspire several young minds across the country.
