Berhampur, Feb 8 (LocalWire) Students of Rama Narayan Degree College, Dura, near Berhampur, on Friday created awareness on road safety by staging street play at Randha, on the outskirts of the city on the occasion of Road Safety Week.
Randha, situated on the side of National Highway (NH) -6, identified as an accident prone area in Ganjam district by road transport officials.
At least eight students took part in the play, which lasted for around 25 minutes.
The play stressed on using indicators, avoiding drink-and-drive and over-loading, using seat belts and wearing helmets.
“Students created awareness on road safety rules through staging a play, which was full of humor,” said Usharani Brahma, head of department of Zoology, who directed the play.
“In the play, we wanted to give a message that driving without safety rule might put a person’s life in danger,” she said.
Police personnel from Golanthara, including inspector in charge Alok Jena, extended their help to stage the play, she said.
Brahma also took part in the play.
A number of people gathered to watch the play.
“Not only they appreciated the play, but also assured to obey road safety rules while driving motorbikes,” she said.
Later, the students carried placards and shouted slogans to motivate people on road safety.
