Paradip, October 3 (Local Wire)Different sections of people including social organizations have expressed serious concerns for alleged absence of safety measures at Paradip sea beach causing a rise of drowning cases.
The safety issues at the beach came into limelight when three students took bath in the sea after Gandhi Jayanti celebration with two of them rescued later by CISF personnel while one of the three remained missing.
On Wednesday, the body of missing student Ansuman Das, a class IX student at local Central School, was fished out near Hanuman temple of Paradip. Das went on missing on Tuesday after a cleaning drive event of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on the sea beach.
During the rescue operation on Tuesday, six coast guard personnel had a narrow escape after their motorboat developed technical snag and capsized in the sea.
The 2-km-long beach, stretching from Hanuman temple to Sandakhuda in Paradip, has been identified as a critically-vulnerable zone.
This area is dangerous for sea bathing tough tourism department erected signposts and billboards on the beach to restrict the bathe but lackofsupervision and negligence turned these instructions into a farce as no one pay heed to the notice of caution.
Meanwhile, two BJP leaders Arun Kumar Swain, Ajit Kumar Das lodgedanFIRagainst the chairman of Paradip Municipality BasantKumarBiswal,deputychairman,Pravati Nayak, executive officer Dilip Mohanty at Jatadhari Marine police station on the issue of beach safety.
