Berhampur, July 11 (LocalWire): Close on the heels of the death of a Class IV student due to the crashing of a structure on him at the government-run Upper Primary School, Angu in Ganjam district on Wednesday, two more students sustained injuries due to mishaps in different schools in the district yesterday.
While a Class IV girl of Upper Primary School at Gada Damodarapalli in
Dharakote block suffered injuries after a slab from the sleeper fell on her, a Class
VI student of Upper Primary School, Baragaon in Aska block was injured
after a fall from an auto near the school.
The injured students, Asha Dakua of Gada Damodarapalli and Subham Panda of Baragon are being treated at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and their condition is stated to be critical, officials said.
‘We have asked the concerned block education officers to conduct an inquiry and furnish the report.
Action will be initiated against the errant persons after reviewing the reports,’ said district education officer (DEO) Sanatan Panda.
He said the medical expenditure for treatment of the injured students would be borne from the government’s Guru-Shishya Kalyan fund, raised by the district education office to render emergency expenditure.
‘We have already provided Rs 5000 to the parents of Asha for her treatment and Rs 2000 to Subham’s parents for preliminary medical expenditure,’ said DEO.
Teaching and non-teaching staff of the respective schools attended the injured students at the medical college, as the children’s fathers are serving out of the state, he said.
